Traditional Wine Cellars

The Grotto

Location

Westchester, NY

Capacity

2500 bottles

Style

Traditional Wine Cellars

A 2,500-bottle Westchester cellar carved from an underutilized basement, organized as two distinct rooms joined by a stone grotto pass-through. The front room sits beneath a coffered ceiling with stone-reveal doorways and custom tile floor. Beyond the grotto, a second room with a barrel ceiling opens through a glass door to two giant windows — uncommon daylight for a space typically built in the dark. The same tile pattern threads both rooms; LED displays light the racks and a series of large-format Black Walnut niches, while two climate units run hidden inside the walls.
