A Scarsdale homeowner with a serious collection asked for one thing - at least 2,000 bottles - and left every other detail to us. We converted a home gym into a 2,500-bottle cellar built around its constraints: a structural beam became a brick archway with columns; a mechanical closet vanished behind a wine-case veneer. Sapele wood racks hold 750ml through large-format bottles alongside baker, display, and case-bin storage. A custom tasting table adds 200 more under a clear-lacquer finish. Two redundant ductless split systems guard the collection - a backup the owner came to appreciate after weathering Sandy.
